CORRESPONDENCE

  • Council passed a recommendation to accept the information provided by the CRPA in response to Council’s questions during the 2024 budget process. This included the request for additional information on KPIs and the plans to measure the impact of new Regular Members, and therefore Council endorses the full budget amount for the RCMP submitted by the CRPA during the budget process.

  • Presentation by Kirk Brewer, Planner – Plan 360, on proposed rezoning of property on Hillsborough Road bearing PID 05029319. Council passed a recommendation to approve the proposed timeline for consideration which includes setting a date for a public hearing. 
  • Presentation by Kirk Brewer, Planner – Plan 360, on proposed rezoning of property at the corner of Pine Glen Road and Whitepine Road bearing PID 05005665. Council passed a recommendation to approve the proposed timeline for consideration which includes setting a date for a public hearing.

  • Council passed a recommendation that Atlantic Wellness be awarded a 2024 Annual Operational Grant in the amount of $10,000.  
  • Council passed a recommendation that the Riverview Lions Centre be considered for a 2024 Annual Operational Grant in the amount of $3,000.  
  • Council passed recommendations that the following 2024 Annual Grants be awarded: 
    • 292 RCSCC Coverdale Sea Cadets in the amount of $3,000 
    • Albert County Action Committee in the amount of $6,450 
    • Anglophone East School District in the amount of $5,000 
    • Atlantic Ballet Theatre of Canada in the amount of $5,000 
    • CDT Disc Golf in the amount of $2,000 
    • Codiac Concert Band Inc. in the amount of $500 
    • Frye Festival in the amount of $2,500 
    • Greater Moncton Chorale in the amount of $1,000 
    • Greater Moncton Santa Claus Parade in the amount of $2,000 
    • Greater Moncton Scottish Association in the amount of $1,500 
    • HubCap Comedy Festival in the amount of $2,500 
    • NB Medical Education Foundation Inc. in the amount of $10,400 
    • Riverview Veterans & Armed Forces Association in the amount of $2,000 
    • Shelter Movers in the amount of $5,000 
    • Tri-County Ground Search & Rescue in the amount of $3,000 
    • Youth Impact Jeunesse in the amount of $2,500 
  • Council approved the Recommendations proposed by the Equity, Diversity & Inclusion Committee outlined on January 22, 2024.  
  • Council received a memo outlining the process for the 2024 Local Improvement Projects, including an open house for the public to take place on February 13, 2024. 

After the Committee of the Whole, Council moved into a Special Council meeting where they passed a motion to authorize the order/purchase of one (1) bus for the public transportation services utilizing the existing standing offer with the City of Moncton that the Town cover 100% of the cost, being approximately $720,000.

Council will next meet for a Special Council Meeting on Monday, February 5, at 6 p.m. for the introduction to the new Municipal Plan, and the next Regular Council Meeting is on Monday, February 12 at 7 p.m. These meetings will be live streamed on our website.
