REVIEW OF WRITTEN SUBMISSIONS

  • A resident presented objections to being charged for local improvements to Manning Road.
  • Another resident also expressed their objections to the local improvement charges.
  • Council received a letter of support for proposed local improvement to Suffolk Street.

 

Public Presentation – March 11, 2024

PROPOSED REZONING – PUBLIC PRESENTATION

  • Riverview Town Council is considering the adoption of amending By-laws 300-33-5 and 300-7-13 in order to redesignate the property at the corner of Pine Glen Road and Whitepine Road bearing PID 05005665 from CU – Community Use to C - Commercial, and to rezone said property PRI – Parks, Recreation, Institutional to CM – Commercial Mix in order to permit three six-storey multi-unit dwellings

  • Presentation by Kirk Brewer, Planner – Plan360 on the details on the proposal to redesignate and rezone PID 05005665 (Old Public Works site) to Commercial/Commercial Mix for the purpose of three six-story multiunit residential buildings.

RECOMMENDATIONS FROM COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE

  • Council set the date for the public presentation for Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at 6:30 p.m., and the public hearing to consider objections to the proposed by-laws for Monday, May 13, 2024, at 6:30 p.m., for the property located on Hillsborough Road PIDs 05009949 and 00642736 from CU - (Community Use) to C (Commercial) and to rezone said properties from OS (Open Space) to SC (Suburban Commercial).
  • Council set the date of Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at 6:30 p.m. for the Future Roads Map public presentation, and a public hearing to consider objections to the proposed by-law for Monday, May 13, 2024, at 6:30 p.m.
  • Council approved the 2024-2028 Riverview Fire & Rescue Strategic Plan
  • Council approved the recommendation to include an additional sidewalk and curb to Hillsborough Road (Old Coach Road to Point Park Drive).
  • Council approved the Provincial U15 AA Hockey Tournament grant in the amount of $1,500
  • Council approved the Big Brothers Big Sisters grant in the amount of $1,000

BY-LAWS

NEW BUSINESS

  • Award of Request for Quotation #24-04 – supply and delivery of crushed rock to Gray Rock Materials Inc. in the amount of $97,275.00 + HST.
  • Award of Tender 24-50 for street paving and curb work on various streets to MacArthur’s paving and Construction Co. Inc in the amount of $955,330.00 + HST.
  • Council approved the rescheduling of June’s Regular Council Meeting to June 11, 2024, to accommodate the council members away at the Federation of Canadian Municipalities Conference.
  • Based on the committee’s selection, Mayor LeBlanc announced the Sports Wall of Fame Class of 2024 Inductees:
    • Bloyce F. Bulman (posthumous) - Mr. Bulman was an athlete (Football) and was drafted to Montreal’s CFL Team
    • Robert “Buzz” Betts (posthumous) - Mr. Betts was a builder (Various Sports), and is recognized for the CANUSA Games
    • Lesley Smyth - Ms. Smyth is an athlete (Swimming), Canadian Olympic Trials & Builder (Various Sports)
    • Jeremy Steeves - Mr. Steeves is an athlete (Football) and played for Edmonton’s CFL Team
  • Council passed a motion to consider objections to the passage of By-Law #300-35-6, A By-Law relating to the Stopping Up and Closing of Highways within the Town of Riverview, relating to the work being done to Mitton Road.
