The Town of Riverview is seeking candidates for the summer student position of Community Engagement Facilitator with the Department of Parks, Recreation & Community Relations from May 05, 2025, to August 22, 2025. 

The purpose of this position is to provide support on Sustainability and Business Engagement projects and initiatives, and to provide general frontline customer service to the user groups and individuals using the Coverdale Centre, at the Community Garden, and at various community events.

Part I - Characteristic Duties / Responsibilities: 

  • Assist with sustainability and business engagement projects as directed. 

  • Provide general administrative support including but not limited to answering telephones, providing patron customer service, responding to email inquiries, etc.

  • Conduct research and prepare reports as directed.

  • Create digital graphics and social media posts.

  • Create flyers, letters and notices as required.

  • Assist with setting up for events and activities and assist general inventory tasks at the Coverdale Centre as needed.

  • Assist with Community Garden initiatives as needed.

  • Ensure all established safety precautions are closely followed.

  • Adhere to the policies, practices, and procedures of the Town of Riverview. 

  • Understand and explain the policies, practices, and procedures of the Town of Riverview to the general public.

  • Demonstrate and maintains a high standard of professional conduct at all times.

  • Establish and maintain a good relationship with user groups, the public, volunteers, and co-workers. 

  • Use problem solving skills but seek assistance when necessary. 

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager, Community Engagement

Part II - Job Requirements:

  • Be between 16 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period.

  • Currently enrolled in post-secondary education.

  • Valid New Brunswick Class 5 Driver’s License.

  • Familiarity with Town of Riverview policies, procedures, rules, and regulations.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, web browsers, internet research and social media.

  • Excellent planning, organizational and time management skills.

  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills; ability to effectively work with the public.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Part III: Working Conditions:

  • Position is considered summer student employment with a defined term within the summer months.

  • The hours include daytime, evenings and weekends. 

  • Work environment includes both indoors and outdoors and may be exposed to extreme heat conditions and sun exposure.

  • Required to work for the entire duration of the term of employment. 

This is a Full-Time summer student position with a rate of pay of $18.25 for 35 hours per week
