Preparation for Wildfire Season

(RIVERVIEW, NB) – As we head into warmer, drier months, there is an increased risk of wildfires. Wildfire season officially begins April 21, and the Town encourages residents to stay informed on how to reduce wildfire risk. 

The province of New Brunswick has introduced a new program — FireSmartNB — to educate people about changes they can make to better protect their homes and communities. In addition to exploring this resource, here are other ways to be fire smart this season: 

• Riverview follows the provincial burn restrictions. Residents are reminded to consult the Department of Natural Resources fire ban map before burning. 
• Register your outdoor firepit with Riverview Fire & Rescue to ensure it’s safe.
• Sign up for Emergency Alert notifications on the Riverview Alerts page.  

By staying informed and taking proactive steps now, we can all play a part in reducing wildfire risk.
