Committee of the Whole – June 24, 2024 

EXTERNAL REPORTS 

• Building and Planning – Building Permit report and the Development & Activity report for the month of May 2024 was shared.  
• Codiac RCMP shared their snapshots for the months of March, April, and May 2024 for the tri-communities. 

DEPARTMENTAL REPORTS 

• All departments shared their Departmental Reports for May-June 2024. 

OTHER BUSINESS 

• Grants: Council recommended the necessary steps be taken to revise the Community Investment Policy to include Riverview High School Student Government as one of the Relationship Grants, and that for 2024 the amount of $2,500 be awarded from the Grants and Donation budget.  
• Mayor LeBlanc appointed Rebecca Laffoley to the Planning Advisory Committee for a three-year term.  

COUNCIL STATEMENTS/INQUIRIES 

• Councillor Johnson, along with Deputy Mayor Gouzoules and Councillor Murphy, will be in a dunk tank in Caseley Park during the Canada Day celebrations on July 1 raising money for PRO Kids.  

SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING 

Following the Committee of the Whole meeting, Council held a Special Council Meeting to review the updated 10-year capital plan and Tender for the Riverview Recreation Complex. 

• Council was presented a review of the ten-year capital plan. This plan assumes a certain percentage of assessment growth over the next 10 years, keeping the tax rate flat for the first five and maintaining the debt ratio at 11.16% by the end of 10 years.  
• Council passed a motion to accept the staff recommendation to approve Tender 24-34: the Riverview Recreation Complex to Lindsay Construction in the revised amount of $56,703,000 plus HST.
