Committee of the Whole – May 27, 2024

Mayor LeBlanc and Council congratulated Brooklyn Douthwright who will be participating in the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris as a swimmer. The Town of Riverview is very proud of Brooklyn and wishes her the best as she represents Canada in the upcoming games.

  • Presentation by Doug Hamer, Treasurer – Wesleyan Union Cemetery on the historic nature of the Wesleyan Union Cemeteries.

  • Council recommended to award the following grants:
    • River of Pride $1,000
    • Ukrainian Association of Moncton $500 
    • Moncton Cares $1,000
    • Albert County Chamber of Commerce Excellence Awards $1,000
    • Tutta Musica Orchestra $1,000
  • Council recommended employing summer hours by eliminating the Committee of the Whole meetings for the months of July and August, and changing the start time of the Regular Council Meetings for July and August to 4 p.m.

COUNCIL STATEMENTS/INQUIRIES

  • Mayor LeBlanc extended congratulations to Riverview High School for raising $17,000 in their Relay for Life event held over the weekend.

SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING

Following the Committee of the Whole meeting, Council held a special Council Meeting where the first reading of By-Law 300-33-7 (Future Roads Map) was passed.

NEXT MEETING

Council next meets for a Public Hearing on Monday, June 11, 2024 at 6:30 p.m. The Regular Council Meeting will occur directly following the Public Hearing. The meeting will be live-streamed on our website, and the agenda for the meeting will be available the Thursday prior to the meeting on the Town of Riverview Council Meetings webpage.
