3 people and 2 golden labs standing inside a bike shop

Pawsitively Welcoming – Bob’s Sports Service and His Canine Companions

Whether you’re bringing your bike in for a tune-up or looking for snowshoes, you are bound to remember your visit to Bob’s Sports Service on 242 Coverdale Road. The reason is more than knowledgeable and friendly service — it’s Diesel and Hank, two yellow labs who are often found loyally accompanying shop owner Robert Cormier and his right-hand man, Adam MacFarlane.

Robert “Bob” Cormier has always cared about quality service. He worked in the service department of Eastern Sports in Moncton for five years before striking out on his own.

“When I left, people started calling me to see if I could do service work for their skis and bikes from my home,” says Bob.

It was 1992 when Bob opened his own bike shop in a small space on Pacific Avenue in Moncton. Four years later Bob purchased his childhood home in Riverview, renovating it to become the permanent location of his business, Bob’s Sports Service

“I grew up in Riverview and have watched it grow. It is a great place to live,” he says.

The Riverview community embraced Bob, his wife Rita, and later Diesel and Hank, with open arms. Friends, family, and neighbours came out to support him and his furry family. As the only bike-servicing business in town, Bob and Adam have shared their philosophy to treat everyone the same with the two yellow labs who add to the top-tier customer service for which the store has become known.

Diesel is a certified therapy dog for the St. John Ambulance as well as Tailblazers Therapy. Although eager to give Bob’s Sports’ customers his signature friendly greeting, he spends much of his time visiting patients at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital, as well as senior residential homes, high schools, and colleges in the tri-communities. Hank is on track to complete his certification as a therapy dog this fall.

Whether you need a new — or new-to-you — bike, a tune-up before the busy biking season begins, or some updated accessories before you hit the trails, be sure to swing into Bob’s Sports Service. With 31 years in business, and the best greeters in town, you will be met with unmatched service and an unforgettable welcome. Bob will be at the Community Bike Rodeo on Saturday, June 3, from 9-11 a.m. at the Byron Dobson Arena for World Bike Day. Be sure to swing by with your family, as everyone is welcome!
