Town of Riverview Launches Community Economic Development Strategy

The Town of Riverview is thrilled to launch its new Community Economic Development Strategy. Thanks to the contributions of residents, partners, and local leaders through in-person and online consultations, we gathered unique ideas, aspirations, and needs to help mold Riverview’s economic runway.  

“I think the plan is meaningful as it incorporates a lot of feedback, not only from staff and Council, but most importantly from residents that weighed in on this plan. The community’s voice is apparent when we look at the overall vision proposed for the future of Riverview; to become a more welcoming and prosperous community for all,” stated Mayor Andrew J. LeBlanc. “This is a plan that truly reflects a diverse range of perspectives in the direction that our town is heading.”

Here’s what staff, Council, and partners will be working towards in the years to come:  

Business Support - strengthening Riverview’s economic resilience through enhancing land access, supporting infrastructure and service support, identifying talent gaps and attraction tactics, seeking out retail and culinary opportunities, and supporting businesses either starting up or expanding.  

Community Development - imagining a town where residents can thrive through sustainable and responsible population growth, continuing the momentum on our housing strategies, enhancing transportation efficiency, advocating to improve access to healthcare services, advocating for education offerings, and enhancing communications.  

Lifestyle Enhancement - Further cultivating the quality-of-life residents know through tourism strategies, promotions of arts and culture as well as events and festivals, supporting recreational asset enhancements, and celebrating local success stories through increased marketing and promotions.  

This new Community Economic Development Strategy and Operational Plan are being implemented at an opportune time. The ever-changing socio-economic landscape underscored the need for new direction based on current trends, and this strategy was adopted to guide Riverview towards smart growth in the years to come.
