Electric Vehicle Charging Station on the Riverfront

Town of Riverview Launches First Public-Use Electric Vehicle Charging Stations

Riverview (N.B.) – The Town of Riverview is excited to announce the installation of its first public-use electric vehicle (EV) charging stations. This significant milestone marks a step forward in the municipality’s commitment to sustainability and reducing the Town’s carbon footprint.

The new EV charging stations, centrally located along the Riverfront Trail in the Gazebo parking lot, are designed to provide convenient access for residents and visitors alike. These stations are equipped with the latest SmartTWO™ Level 2 chargers, known for their robustness, durability, and user-friendly interface. They feature a weather and vandalism-proof aluminum enclosure, LED status indicators, and can be accessed via RFID card or mobile app. These units can operate efficiently in temperatures ranging from -40°C to 50°C, ensuring year-round availability. Importantly, the charging stations are free for use and available 24/7, making it easier than ever for EV drivers to charge their vehicles in Riverview.

This project was partially funded through Natural Resources Canada’s (NRCan) Zero Emission Vehicle Infrastructure Program (ZEVIP). The funding was provided to NB Power, which has been instrumental in supporting the installation of EV chargers across New Brunswick.

Andrew J. LeBlanc, Mayor of the Town of Riverview, stated, "We are proud to support the growing number of EV users in our community. The installation of these charging stations is a testament to our commitment to fostering a greener environment and promoting sustainable transportation options."

The new EV charging stations are part of Riverview's broader initiative to enhance infrastructure for electric vehicles, promoting eco-friendly travel options within the community. These efforts align with our ongoing Integrated Community Sustainability Plan (ICSP), aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions and fostering a more sustainable future.

Residents and visitors are encouraged to utilize the new EV charging stations and contribute to Riverview's green initiatives. For more information about the charging stations and how to use them, please visit the manufacturer’s website at flo.com.

About the Zero Emission Vehicle Infrastructure Program (ZEVIP)
The Zero Emission Vehicle Infrastructure Program (ZEVIP) is an initiative by Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) aimed at increasing the availability of EV charging and refueling stations across the country. The program provides funding for projects that support the deployment of infrastructure in public places, on-street locations, multi-unit residential buildings, workplaces, and light-duty vehicle fleets. By making EV charging more accessible, ZEVIP plays a crucial role in encouraging the adoption of zero-emission vehicles and contributing to Canada's climate change goals.
