Stephen M. Gouzoules is serving his first term as Councillor At Large after being elected in October 2023. He joined Riverview Town Council following a local by-election to fill a vacant At Large position in November 2023. He was elected Deputy Mayor in June 2024.
Born and raised in Riverview, Stephen, along with his loving wife, Lex, and their son, Stevie, proudly call Riverview home. It's this deep-rooted connection that fuels his commitment to enhancing the quality of life in the town, making it an even better place to live, work, and raise a family.
In his role on Council, he supports fiscal responsibility, community engagement, and sustainable growth. He cares deeply about public safety, parks and recreation, financial health, and promoting Riverview as an inclusive and welcoming community.
Stephen has an unwavering dedication to community service. From an early age, he recognized that active involvement and volunteerism are driving forces behind creating positive change. Throughout his life, Stephen has offered his time and expertise to various causes close to his heart, including volunteering with Scouts Canada as a Beaver leader, coaching for the Riverview Soccer Association, serving as a board member for The Karing Kitchen, and fulfilling the role of vice-chair with Riverview Neighbourhood Watch.
Professionally, Stephen has extensive experience as a project manager within the telecommunications industry, where he has successfully managed budgets, met stringent deadlines, and led cross-functional teams.
In his free time, Stephen enjoys outdoor adventures with his family, from camping and hiking to backpacking through nature. He's equally passionate about his favourite sports teams and relishes the opportunity to fire up the barbecue for delicious meals with friends and family.
